The Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to contribute to the development of bio-based materials. This two-year research grant-funded position will be supervised by Professor Mohammad Jawaid.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Extract lignin from biomass using natural deep eutectic solvents.
  2. Characterize extracted lignin through various analytical techniques.
  3. Explore applications of modified lignin for adsorption.
  4. Employ advanced characterization methods, including thermal, structural, morphological, NMR, UV spectroscopy, particle size analysis, and BET analysis.
  5. Present research findings at national and international conferences and publish results in peer-reviewed journals.

Requirements:

  1. A PhD in Materials Science completed within the last two years from a top-ranked university.
  2. Experience in lignocellulosic biomass processing and lignin modification is highly desirable.
  3. Knowledge of natural deep eutectic solvents and their application in lignin extraction is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. A strong research publication record.
