About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced cost estimator to join our team at D G Jones and Partners. As a key member of our construction project management team, you will be responsible for calculating, estimating, managing, and refining all monetary costs and expenditures associated with construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and effective communication abilities. You will interpret design drawings, comprehend construction processes, and review contract documents thoroughly to understand project requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Cost Management: Maintain comprehensive registers of financial approvals, payments, variations, and change orders. Produce regular reports and promptly alert management of any forecasted cost overruns or underruns, providing recommendations for corrective action.
  • Procurement and Risk Management: Review all purchase orders to assess committed costs. Collaborate with construction personnel, clients, and contractors to review proposed cost changes. Monitor market changes and site conditions that may affect project costs.
  • Commercial Analysis: Identify, analyze, and develop responses to commercial risks associated with the project. Conduct cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Perform risk, value management, and cost control activities. Stay updated on different building contracts in current use. Analyze tenders and prepare comprehensive tender reports.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Liaise with other Quantity Surveyors (QSs) and Assistant Quantity Surveyors (AQSs) to collect, review, and compile data for cost estimation. Review and measure works executed on-site, including variations and cost estimates.
