Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced QC Engineer (Painting & Coating) to join our top-qualified quality controls team in Abu Dhabi, UAE. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective completion of all related Painting & Coating works.

Your primary duties will include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of quality documentation, including Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and reviewing construction documents for compliance with project quality requirements related to Painting & Coating works.
  • Monitoring all phases and processes required for the effective completion of all related Painting & Coating works, particularly issues of design, procurement, construction, and final handover of the related Painting & Coating works.
  • Ensuring the implementation of Method Statements and Inspection & Test Plans related to Painting & Coating works and generating all necessary records in a timely manner within your area of assigned responsibility.
  • Managing the inspection and testing of Painting & Coating works in your area of assigned responsibilities, including monitoring the work of QC Inspectors under your authority.
  • Monitoring the closeout of punch lists established for incomplete items related to Painting & Coating works.
  • Verifying the functionality and calibration of measurement & testing instruments employed for Mechanical works.
  • Liaising and coordinating with 3rd Party Testing/Inspection Companies as required related to Painting & Coating works.
  • Conducting statistical analysis and evaluation of test data related to Painting & Coating works.
  • Preparing, filing, and maintaining test/inspection records and any other quality records generated related to Painting & Coating works.
  • Assisting construction personnel in identifying and resolving problems and potential or actual non-conformances related to Painting & Coating works.
  • Advising the QC Manager of non-conformance occurrences and where necessary, raising a Non-conformance Report for non-compliant work, and monitoring the closeout and effectiveness of the correction and corrective action undertaken.
  • Where required, assisting the QC Manager in undertaking periodic audits, including those of sub-contractors and suppliers, particularly technical compliance audits in their field of specialization.
  • Where required, assisting in the preparation of final documents for certification.
  • Assisting in the systems commissioning as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 15 years of experience (ADNOC experience will be an advantage).
  • In-depth knowledge of surface preparation and painting of various materials, use of blasting equipment, and painting instruments. Hands-on experience in the inspection of surface preparation, blasting, painting, coating, fireproofing, and insulation activities.
  • Familiarity with the review and approval of product certificates – garnets and paints. Adept in the qualification of paint systems and applicator qualifications.
  • Familiarity with various pipeline coating systems and the methods for inspection and certification including holiday testing, salt contamination, DFT, and WFT.
  • Well-experienced in the preparation, review, and approval of ITP, Method statements, and Procedures.
  • Conversant with International Codes and Standards, SHELL DEP, and ADNOC specifications.
  • Familiarity with repair methods for painting and coating including their pre-qualification process.
