About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Operations Manager to join our team at Amazon. As a key member of our AWS Infrastructure Services team, you will be responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.

This is a challenging role that requires a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, data center operations, and team management. You will work closely with our software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and other vital roles to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Team Leadership: Hire, develop, build, and manage a team of Data Center Technicians, including the management of individual and team performance.
  2. Operational Excellence: Lead and supervise the team to be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting on systems, hardware, and network devices issues.
  3. Efficient Operations: Ensure effective and efficient management of data center operations, including ticket queue management, 7/24 shift arrangement, and hardware logistics.
  4. Process Improvement: Inspire and guide improvement in team process, technology innovation, and automation.
  5. Performance Metrics: Ensure all operational KPIs and metrics are being measured and met.
  6. Outage Management: Manage outage by severity level and act as the call leader.
  7. Customer Experience: Be passionate about the quality and quantity of services being provided, and continuously strive to improve our Customer Experience.
Requirements
  1. Leadership Experience: 5+ years of people management experience within an IT environment.
  2. Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge and experience of change, problem, and incident management.
  3. Communication Skills: Demonstrated communication skill in presentation, open discussion, team coaching.
  4. Language Skills: Fluent verbal and written communication in English.
  5. Financial Acumen: Understanding in Financial budgeting, Capex, and Opex concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Data Center Operations Experience: Cumulative experiences in Data Center Operations or similar roles in a mission-critical environment.
  2. IT Infrastructure Experience: Cumulative experiences with information technology infrastructure domains such as compute server platforms, storage server platforms, server components, network devices, cabling, and IT service delivery principles and best practices.
  3. Project Management: Project Management skill.
  4. Capacity Planning: Capacity planning and budgetary experience.
  5. Safety and Security: Experience in Safety and Security measures.
  6. Certifications: ITIL Foundation, PMP, Lean, Six Sigma, and/or Risk-related certifications.
  7. Linux Certification: Linux certification and/or administration experience - RHCSA/RHCE, LPIC, Linux+.
