The SEN Teacher will work in partnership with classroom educators, families, and other professionals to guarantee that our students receive an optimal educational experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Design, implement, and consistently evaluate IEPs for students with special educational needs, ensuring they are customized to individual needs and aligned with educational objectives.
  • Curriculum Modification: Adapt and differentiate the curriculum and teaching methodologies to suit the varied learning styles and requirements of students with special needs.
  • Instructional Delivery: Provide engaging and effective lessons utilizing a range of instructional methods and resources to address the learning needs of all students.
  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Regularly evaluate student progress through formal and informal assessment tools, offering detailed feedback to students, families, and colleagues. Adjust teaching methods based on assessment data to ensure ongoing improvement.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with classroom educators to provide support and resources for students with special needs. Work with other SEN professionals, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, to develop and implement comprehensive support strategies.
  • Parent Communication: Build and maintain strong relationships with parents and caregivers. Provide regular updates on student progress and involve them in the development and review of IEPs.
  • Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development opportunities to remain informed about best practices in special education. Share knowledge and strategies with colleagues to enhance overall teaching practices within the institution.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain precise and comprehensive records of student progress, IEPs, assessments, and communication with parents and other stakeholders.
  • Inclusive Environment: Promote an inclusive classroom atmosphere that supports the social and emotional growth of all students, fostering a positive and respectful learning environment.


Requirements
  • Education: Professional Educator License in Special Education and a specialization in Special Education.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience working with students with a variety of special educational needs, including those with learning disabilities, behavioral challenges, and developmental disorders.
  • Skills:
    • Thorough knowledge of IEP development and implementation.
    • Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of educators, families, and specialists.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
