Job Summary:

The Pipe Department Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the pipe department to ensure that work processes are implemented as designed and comply with established policies, processes, and procedures. This role will prioritize health and safety in daily activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Management: Reviews, approves, and follows up project programmes and takes appropriate measures where required for contractual delivery of projects.
  2. Research and Development: Researches and develops new work techniques and technologies related to pipe fabrication and welding, including the improvement of documentation process flow for the Department.
  3. Departmental Support: Receives from the Department Manager and executes any work-related instructions.
  4. Leadership: Substitutes for the Department Manager during their absence, when appointed to do so.
  5. Work Prioritization: Defines the priorities for the daily work processes of the Department.
  6. Interdepartmental Collaboration: Liaises with other trades, Ship Repair Managers, and Superintendents to ensure smooth workflow on projects.
  7. Quality Control: Inspects work sites inside the department (workshop, offices) and on board to ensure resources are optimized.
  8. Incident Reporting: Raises Occurrence Reports and approves repair methods for rejected work.
  9. Procurement: Approves Material Requisitions.
  10. Financial Management: Prepares and recommends the Pipe section budget by analyzing and providing data related to specific elements as directed.
  11. Performance Monitoring: Monitors the financial performance of the Pipe section against budgets to identify and rectify areas of unsatisfactory performance promptly and capitalize on potential performance improvement opportunities.

Requirements:

  1. Education: Graduate in an Engineering discipline.
  2. Skills and Experience: Strong piping construction management skills, familiar with international piping codes and standards. Proven strong leadership qualities and exceptional understanding of other disciplines such as Electrical/Instrumentation, Mechanical, and Structural activities. Strong construction planning and monitoring skills. 10 years of significant experience in shipyard, refinery plant, oil & gas offshore experience related to piping constructions.
  3. Leadership and Communication: An experienced leader, motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills able to control a multinational workforce in a dynamic situation.
