Job Description:

  • The Chief Mechanical Engineer / Maintenance Manager will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with all Company's and legislative Health & Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • This includes maintaining a culture of continuous improvement with respect to Health, Safety and the Environment, and exploiting any discovered improvement potential.
  • The successful candidate will ensure that the plant is maintained in a manner that safeguards plant integrity and reliability, maximizes asset lifetime and efficiency, and minimizes cost.
  • They will continually monitor the status of issues that affect the risk to plant operations, identifying and prioritizing the required actions, and driving forward the solutions.
  • This role involves directing and monitoring the planning and prioritization of mechanical maintenance of the plant, to ensure high availability.
  • The Chief Mechanical Engineer / Maintenance Manager will co-ordinate in conjunction with the Operations department the integration of daily maintenance activities, setting priorities on a daily basis and identifying any operational concerns for long term planning.
  • They will propose modifications that can improve plant performance and availability or reduce operation and maintenance costs.
  • The successful candidate will ensure the timely supply of all spares, consumables, tools and external resources in co-ordination with the purchase department to ensure high availability and reliability of the plant.
  • They will ensure that maintenance of the plant is carried out in a disciplined and consistent manner based on approved Work Instructions that have been developed, reviewed and revised by the joint input of both Engineering and Maintenance personnel (as applicable).
  • The Chief Mechanical Engineer / Maintenance Manager will periodically review and update preventive maintenance programs in SAP and ensure that all maintenance activities are routed through the system.
  • They will improve and update the business management and maintenance procedures relevant to the department.
  • The successful candidate will monitor the activities of contractors that have an influence or may have an influence on the running plant, providing guidelines for the Maintenance personnel to control these activities.
  • They will ensure adherence to all relevant health, safety, security and environmental procedures, instructions and controls so that the safety of employees and environmental compliance can be guaranteed.
  • The Chief Mechanical Engineer / Maintenance Manager will develop and maintain effective business relationships with all relevant internal departments and external contractors with the highest standards of business ethics, whilst promptly attending to all critical technical issues in order to ensure the services required by the organization are delivered in the most effective manner.
