About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Leader to join our team as a Director of Finance. The successful candidate will play a critical role in executing and ensuring effective day-to-day financial management and control of our operations.

As part of our leadership team, you will provide strategic financial direction and identify opportunities for commercial success to drive growth and profitability. You will be a close business partner to the rest of the executive management team.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the Finance Team: Develop and lead a high-performing team of finance professionals through clear goal setting and coaching.
  2. Ensure Financial Compliance: Ensure there are proper accounting procedures in place with sufficient valid supporting information that comply with local government requirements and are correctly filed and stored.
  3. Liaise with Management Agreements: Ensure compliance with all terms and conditions of management agreements and associated legal documents. Keep and safeguard all contracts, leases, insurance policies, and all legal and financial documents, and maintain a suitable 'trace' system to ensure timely renewal of contracts.
  4. Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the review and preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and monthly profit & loss statements in consultation with the General Manager, ensuring all reports are prepared in accordance with accounting standards, statutory requirements, hotel industry-specific guidelines, and Head Office requirements.
  5. Taxation and Supplier Payments: Ascertain that all taxes, contributions, licenses, interest, and management fees are accurately calculated and paid on time, and ensure timely payment of all valid supplier invoices under the agreed payment schedule.
  6. Capital Expenditure: Monitor capital expenditure and present a viable financial feasibility analysis for new investment proposals.
  7. Payroll Budgeting: Review payroll budgets and FTEs, and work with the People and Culture team on productivity and workforce planning.
  8. Operational Efficiency: Provide advice to continuously improve operational efficiencies with proper internal control across Finance and other Divisions of the hotel. Investigate and resolve issues with division heads that may arise from auditing activities.
  9. Procurement Function: Oversee the procurement function, review all purchase requisitions in accordance with group purchasing policies, and approve all purchases in view of the availability of funds, necessity, and budget.
  10. Asset Management: Implement all necessary controls and procedures to safeguard the assets of the hotel and maintain accurate records of fixed assets, operating equipment, supplies, and inventories, validated by a physical count performed on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  11. Funding and Financial Information: Ensure day-to-day funding of the Operations and provide easy access to all relevant financial information at the earliest possible time.
Requirements:
  1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Hospitality.
  2. Experience: Minimum 15 years of financial accounting experience and 5 years of management experience within the hospitality industry.
  3. Leadership Skills: A strong people leader who is influential, demonstrates flexibility in approach, and has exceptional communication skills.
  4. Regulatory Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of local accounting laws and regulatory changes.
  5. Financial Management: Thorough knowledge of accounting control and financial management processes.
  6. Taxation and Risk Management: Experience with complex taxation and financial agreements; demonstrated success in evaluating risks and developing proactive strategies to mitigate business issues.
  7. Analytical and Presentation Skills: Strong analytical skills and good business acumen; ability to present complex information effectively to senior management.
