Position Overview

The Materials Management Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and supplies within the workshop environment. This position ensures that all materials meet the specified requirements and are efficiently managed to support operational needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspection and Compliance: Review incoming shipments of materials and equipment to confirm adherence to purchase order specifications. Report any discrepancies, including shortages or damages.
  • Storage Optimization: Organize the storage of goods and materials to maximize space utilization and ensure safe handling.
  • Documentation: Accurately record the receipt of materials and equipment into the JDE system.
  • Space Analysis: Evaluate storage space usage to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with procurement teams to determine storage needs and optimal stock levels.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in the management of fixed asset inventory and collaborate with logistics and after-sales teams to document material transactions.
  • Surplus Property Handling: Support the inventory and management of surplus property, ensuring compliance with company procedures.
  • Reorder Analysis: Analyze inventory levels and material movement to recommend reorder points and adjustments.
  • Project Support: Coordinate with the workshop assembly team to track materials for specific projects and report any shortages or excesses.
  • Physical Inventory Coordination: Organize and conduct regular physical inventories, including the annual inventory of warehouse items and fixed assets.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned to support the overall objectives of the workshop.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to all NOV Company health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Warehouse Organization: Maintain an orderly and efficient warehouse and workshop store.
Required Skills and Competencies
  • Basic knowledge of materials and equipment used in oil and gas manufacturing operations.
  • Understanding of warehouse recordkeeping techniques and proficiency in relevant software, including JDE.
  • Experience operating warehouse equipment such as cranes and forklifts.
  • Mathematical skills for calculations and inventory management.
  • Strong communication skills for documenting activities and preparing reports.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with internal teams and vendors.
  • Physical capability to perform active labor in both indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Ability to lift and move materials safely, following established procedures.
  • Forklift operation experience and certification are advantageous.
