About the Role:

The Consumer Protection Officer is responsible for ensuring the rights and interests of customers are safeguarded by adhering to relevant consumer protection regulations and standards. This role involves monitoring and enforcing policies that protect consumers from unfair practices, overseeing complaint resolution processes, and guaranteeing that our products and services adhere to regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify gaps and implement solutions for compliance with regulatory standards.
  2. Support timely publication of comprehensive monitoring updates for senior stakeholders, covering key aspects of Consumer Protection Regulations.
  3. Review and lead ongoing initiatives concerning Consumer Protection within the bank.
  4. Ensure reports, dashboards, and related materials regarding Consumer Protection Regulations are published according to established deadlines.
  5. Provide timely updates to regulatory bodies and Senior Management on areas of concern during management reviews.
  6. Offer critical analysis and advice on Consumer Protection Regulations for effective solutions and implementation.
  7. Identify weaknesses and implement control checks to ensure ongoing compliance with prescribed Consumer Protection standards.
  8. Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with CBUAE's Consumer Protection Regulations.
  9. Coordinate with Business Units for internal and external audit reviews related to Consumer Protection Regulations.

Requirements:

  1. Extensive knowledge of banking products and services.
  2. Over 5 years of experience in governance within the financial sector.
  3. Understanding of banking operations, Islamic Banking products, policies, CBUAE regulations, and compliance.
  4. Deep understanding of Consumer Protection Regulation and its associated standards.
  5. Solid grasp of local and international regulatory frameworks.
  6. Good communication skills both oral and written in English (Arabic is an advantage).
