About the Position

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing all mechanical engineering activities related to chillers and HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards. This role involves collaborating with various departments to ensure successful project execution, focusing on the integration and optimization of chiller/HVAC systems within the rail infrastructure development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Validate Mechanical Designs: Verify that the mechanical design provided by the contractor meets project requirements and industry standards.
  • Oversee Installation and Testing: Ensure that the installation, testing, and commissioning of chiller and HVAC systems meet quality standards and project specifications.
  • Ensure Quality Control: Confirm that all mechanical systems comply with relevant standards and quality benchmarks throughout the installation and commissioning phases.
  • Develop Technical Documentation: Direct the development and review of technical drawings, shop drawings, and material submittals.
  • Conduct Site Assessments: Gather data on existing mechanical conditions and identify opportunities for improvement in chiller and HVAC systems.
  • Manage Risks: Identify and mitigate mechanical risks related to chillers and HVAC systems.
  • Provide Progress Reports: Keep stakeholders informed about mechanical risks and opportunities related to chillers and HVAC systems.
  • Provision of Mechanical Data: Ensure the provision of all necessary mechanical data related to chillers and HVAC systems.
  • Technical Support: Address any mechanical issues related to chillers and HVAC systems during the construction supervision phase.
  • Presentation and Communication: Deliver mechanical presentations focused on chillers and HVAC systems as required.
  • Project Coordination: Drive progression via coordination meetings to ensure all mechanical obligations related to chillers and HVAC systems are met.
  • Compliance with Industry Standards: Ensure that HVAC designs and installations comply with relevant industry standards, including local building codes, health and safety regulations, and environmental laws.
  • Performance Monitoring: Evaluate the performance of chiller and HVAC works during construction to ensure adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
  • Liaison with External Parties: Collaborate with external consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with mechanical requirements related to chillers and HVAC systems.
  • Training and Guidance: Provide training and guidance to junior engineers and project team members on mechanical matters related to chillers and HVAC systems.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  2. Professional certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent are highly desirable.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  1. Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering design and build, with a specific focus on chillers and HVAC systems, preferably in large-scale infrastructure or transportation projects.
  2. 2-5 years of experience as a Design Engineer, specifically in the design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems related to HVAC.
  3. In-depth knowledge of mechanical principles, construction contracts, and industry standards related to chillers and HVAC systems.
  4. Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) and their integration with HVAC systems.
  5. Experience in fire alarm and firefighting systems and its integration with HVAC.
  6. Knowledge of AutoCAD/BIM will be essential.
  7. Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple mechanical aspects and stakeholders effectively.
  8. Experience working on Rail projects/sector is highly desirable.
