Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Wood. As a Junior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the contract administration process, assisting with the preparation of bills of quantities, schedules of rates, and associated contract preambles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Contract:
    • Assist with preparing actual and/or model Bill of Quantities based upon client Engineering drawings and/or industry data.
    • Develop and prepare Preambles and Schedules of Rates, including input to Contract Payment terms and conditions.
    • Support Contract Engineer with commercial Bid Evaluation and Recommendation for Award process.
    • Prepare and update take-off of quantities from AFC/IFC drawings.
    • Prepare manhour and cost analysis form tender submissions.
    • Benchmarking of unit rate/manhour rates and prices with industry norms.
  • Post Contract:
    • Assist with the re-measurement of quantities from AFC drawings and/or site implementation in accordance with the method of measurement in the contract.
    • Provide substantiating data to agree progress measurement with Contractor and Lead QS.
    • Assist with the preparation of interim valuations and final accounts including valuation of works completed.
    • Assist with the preparation of estimates as required, including reviewing client and 3rd party estimates.
    • Provide reasoned advice and forecasts on costs, including conducting Contractor and Company audits.
Requirements
  • Degree qualification in a relevant field.
  • Proven team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Sound IT skills in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel data manipulation skills.
  • Analytical skills and ability to follow a structured approach.
  • Confidence in meeting with clients via MS Teams and in person.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
