About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Inspector and Quality Control Professional to join our team at NOV. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about ensuring the highest quality standards in our products.

Job Description

This role involves performing various inspection and quality control operations, including visual, dimensional, and functional inspections. The successful candidate will be responsible for making critical observations, conducting tests, and documenting results accurately.

The job requires inspecting PCE-BOPs and BOP components, as well as source inspections at facilities. Additionally, the professional will prepare inspection reports and maintain files of inspection documents.

This role also involves reviewing inspection records received for compliance and maintaining inspection and measuring equipment. Furthermore, the individual will be responsible for preparing and coordinating Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for nonconforming parts.

Responsibilities
  • Perform day-to-day inspection and reporting activities on PCE-SBOP, Annular BOP, and Ram-type BOPs.
  • Work in accordance with Standard NOV QMS and HSE procedures and policies.
  • Support workshop supervisors in monitoring, identification, and traceability processes.
  • Assist shop supervisors in daily QC activities.
  • Prepare Quality plans/ITPs as per client requests.
  • Perform dimensional inspections as per NOV Router/job card, drawings, and specs review and approval of final inspection documents.
  • In-process and final inspections of BOPs and BOP components at supplier premises.
  • Review and approve supplier inspection reports.
  • Maintain instrument/equipment calibration up to date.
  • Register NCRs, CAR/PAR entries into the NOV portal (PIMS/Intelex).
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Perform in-house NDE inspections (PT and MPI testing) - to perform and prepare reports.
  • Prepare final Data books.
  • Be available for duties as required by shop superiors and job priority.
  • Perform dimensional, hardness, MT, and PT inspections in front of clients or TPI agencies.
  • Have knowledge of reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Have basic knowledge of all measuring instruments and gauges.
  • Having welding knowledge is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of basic material standards such as API 6A, API 16A, API 16 AR, ASTM, AISI, and NACE Standards.
Behavioral Skills/Competencies Required
  • Good relationships with all workshop employees and superiors.
  • Good relationships with clients, suppliers, and NOV global team members.
  • Knowledge of inspection, measuring instruments, and basic computer knowledge in MS Office.
  • Good communication skills and preparation of inspection reports and final Data books.
  • Proactive approach towards reducing potential nonconformities during repair processes.
Education Qualifications & Experience Required

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A high school diploma (10+2) or technical diploma (3-5 years) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Graduates with 2-5 years in machine shop QC inspection/NDE preferably oil and gas industry.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a Quality Inspector role.
  • Good decision-making skills.
  • Preparation of QA/QC reports to management.
  • Thorough knowledge in MS Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint presentations.
