Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Bakery Assistant to join our team at Kitopi. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for supporting our Kitchen Manager in the daily operation of our bakery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Kitchen Operations: Assist the Kitchen Manager in the daily operation of the bakery, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the highest standard.
  • Maintain a Clean and Hygienic Environment: Ensure that the work area is kept in a clean and hygienic condition, adhering to the rules and regulations set by the restaurant.
  • Control Food Stock and Cost: Monitor and control food stock and food cost in your section, ensuring that we are operating efficiently and effectively.
  • Prepare Daily Mis-en-Place and Food Production: Prepare the daily mis-en-place and food production in different sections of the main kitchen, ensuring that all products are of the highest quality.
  • Follow Instructions and Recommendations: Follow the instructions and recommendations from your immediate superiors to complete daily tasks, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the highest standard.
  • Ensure Quality and Consistency: Ensure that the highest standards and consistent quality are maintained in the daily preparation of food, staying up-to-date with new products, recipes, and preparation techniques.
  • Coordinate with Other Sections: Coordinate and participate with other sections of the kitchen to ensure that all requirements, cleanliness, wastage, and cost control are met.
  • Comply with Legislation and Regulations: Ensure that you operate within the appropriate legislation and regulations, maintaining accurate records of health and safety, hygiene, equal opportunities, HACCP, and other relevant legislation.
Requirements
  • Education: Minimum high school academic qualification.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience as a Commis Bakery in a restaurant kitchen.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Mandatory experience in making dough, breads, pastries, pita, and baking section. Knowledge of legal requirements for health and safety, HACCP, and environmental health.
  • Personal Qualities: Positive, dynamic, creative, and dedicated team player with the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
