At Caliberly, we are seeking an exceptional Veterinary Specialist to join our team and play a pivotal role in ensuring the health and well-being of dairy cattle on large-scale farms.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and treating illnesses, overseeing preventative health programs, and managing reproductive health. This role also involves optimizing nutrition and milk production, maintaining accurate medical records, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and local regulations.
Main Responsibilities:
- Disease Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnose and treat illnesses, injuries, and other health conditions in dairy cattle.
- Health Checks and Clinical Assessments: Perform regular health checks and clinical assessments to identify potential issues early on.
- Vaccinations and Medications: Administer vaccinations, medications, and other treatments as required to maintain the health of the herd.
- Herd Health Programs: Develop and implement herd health programs to prevent diseases and infections.
- Biosecurity Protocols: Monitor and manage biosecurity protocols to maintain a disease-free environment.
- Preventative Measures: Conduct routine deworming, hoof care, and other preventative measures to ensure the health and productivity of the herd.
- Reproductive Health: Oversee artificial insemination (AI) and natural breeding programs, diagnose and manage reproductive disorders.
- Calving Processes: Monitor and assist with calving processes and neonatal care.
- Nutrition and Milk Production: Collaborate with nutritionists to optimize feeding programs, monitor milk production, and advise on strategies to enhance yield and quality.
- Medical Records: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all animals.
- Reporting and Communication: Prepare and submit regular health and productivity reports to management, educate farm staff on best practices in animal handling, health monitoring, and hygiene.
- Training and Development: Conduct workshops or training sessions for continuous knowledge improvement.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency situations such as injuries, calving difficulties, or outbreaks.
- Surgical Procedures: Perform surgical procedures as needed.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all practices comply with local veterinary regulations and farm policies, promote and adhere to workplace safety standards.
Requirements:
- Mandatory Qualifications: Bachelors degree in veterinary medicine.
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in veterinary medicine, with 2-3 years of experience in GCC Country.
