Purpose and Scope: The Senior Design Engineer - Electrical & Instrumentation will lead teams involved in the development of discipline-specific engineering drawings for various projects. This role will oversee the design work, ensure compliance with project specifications, and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality results.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership: Supervise and participate in discipline-specific drafting activities, ensuring timely completion of work assignments and adherence to set standards.
  2. Project Scope Understanding: Study and comprehend the scope of work and specifications for each project, preparing basic drawings and allocating tasks to team members.
  3. Quality Assurance: Act as the ultimate checker for all drawings produced by draftsmen, ensuring compliance with project briefs, consistency, and quality of work.
  4. Bill of Materials: Prepare accurate and comprehensive Bills of Materials for entire projects.
  5. Engineering Query Resolution: Provide input for resolving engineering queries from clients or third parties.
  6. Interdisciplinary Coordination: Undertake interdisciplinary coordination and perform IDC to ensure integration of project drafting activities.
  7. Problem-Solving: Work closely with discipline engineers to resolve problems and ensure project schedules are met.
  8. Yard Queries: Resolve yard queries within the level of capability to ensure work conforms to drawings.
  9. Pre-Engineering Site Surveys: Conduct pre-engineering site surveys to confirm correctness of handover documents and suitability of allocated site for project implementation.
  10. Design Activities: Design and prepare cable block diagrams, single-line diagrams, interconnection diagrams, instrument hook-up details, instrument indexes, cable tray layouts, lighting layouts, instrument/F&G layouts, and MCT layout drawings.
  11. Support Design: Design and prepare supports, except simple types.
  12. 3D Design: Perform 3D design activities.
  13. File Management: Ensure all electronic files are properly copied.

Requirements:

  1. Technical Qualifications: Technical diploma in engineering or equivalent.
  2. Experience: 10 years of drafting experience, with a minimum of 2 years at Level 2.
  3. Leadership Skills: Supervisory experience and team-leader qualities.
  4. Interdisciplinary Knowledge: Good interdisciplinary knowledge.
  5. Language Skills: Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
  6. CAD Skills: Experienced and competent Computer-Aided Design (CAD) operator.
  7. Attention to Detail: Rigorous checker.
