About the Role

Talent Pal is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our employees.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead Site Risk Assessments: Conduct thorough risk assessments for current and new activities to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  2. Establish WHS Training Matrix: Develop and implement a comprehensive training program to ensure all employees have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs safely.
  3. Implement Site-Specific WHS Standards: Develop and implement site-specific WHS standards and guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  4. Lead Implementation of WHS Objectives and Programs: Develop and implement WHS objectives and programs to achieve a safe and healthy work environment.
  5. Promote a Safe Culture: Foster a culture of safety among employees by providing regular WHS content and promoting a positive attitude towards safety.
  6. Perform Site Safety Audits: Conduct regular site safety audits to identify non-compliance with WHS standards and develop strategies to address them.
  7. Work with Operations Team: Collaborate with the operations team to implement solutions to eliminate exposure to risks and prevent injuries.
  8. Conduct Daily and Weekly WHS Audits: Conduct daily and weekly WHS audits to ensure compliance with WHS standards and identify areas for improvement.
  9. Attend to Incidents and Occupational Injuries: Respond to incidents and occupational injuries in a timely and effective manner to minimize their impact.
  10. Guide and Assist Area Managers: Provide guidance and support to area managers on incident investigations, Gensuite write-up, and communication of lessons learned.
  11. Audit Recordkeeping Practices: Ensure accurate and complete recordkeeping practices in Gensuite to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  12. Ensure PPE Inventory: Ensure the PPE inventory at site is accurate and up-to-date, and coordinate with procurement for order placement.
  13. Ensure Basic Fire Fighting and First Aid Training: Ensure all employees have completed basic fire fighting and first aid training.
  14. Complete Daily Trailer Dock Release Inspections: Conduct daily trailer dock release inspections to ensure compliance with WHS standards.
  15. Monitor Daily Action Tracking System: Monitor the daily action tracking system to ensure all actions are completed in a timely manner.
  16. Participate in Site Management Safety Walks: Participate in site management safety walks to identify areas for improvement and provide insight into unsafe acts and conditions.
  17. Provide Daily Updates to Country WHS Manager: Provide daily updates to the country WHS manager on objectives, progress, incidents, and other relevant information.
  18. Prepare WHS Committee Meeting Agenda: Prepare the WHS committee meeting agenda, MOM write-up, and ATS creation.
  19. Review and Sign-Off Permit to Work: Review and sign-off permit to work documents with operational and facilities teams.
  20. Lead on WHS-Related Procurement: Lead on WHS-related procurement and follow up on site.
  21. Prepare Risk Assessments and Emergency Response Plans: Prepare risk assessments and emergency response plans to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  22. Manage Emergency Drills: Manage the preparation and completion of emergency drills, medievac drills, and preparing drill records.
  23. Establish and Monitor Heat Index: Establish and monitor the heat index to ensure employee safety.
  24. Provide Support to Site-Specific Requests: Provide support to site-specific requests, unplanned events, and activities.
