Job Summary

Sukoon Insurance is seeking a highly skilled Aviation Underwriter to join our team. As an Aviation Underwriter, you will be responsible for assessing and underwriting new business, endorsements, and renewals in accordance with established company procedures and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwriting and Risk Assessment: Apply underwriting and risk selection techniques to determine the acceptability of new and renewal insurance risks.
  • Customer Service: Respond to inquiries from distribution channels regarding underwriting processes and decisions, interpretation of policy forms and coverages, and premium levels.
  • Re-underwriting Programs: Conduct re-underwriting programs for selected intermediaries to improve the profitability of their book of business.
  • New Business Proposals: Receive and review new business proposals, endorsements, and renewals within authorized underwriting limits.
  • Risk Evaluation: Assess, evaluate, and price risk using risk modeling techniques and prescribed underwriting guidelines.
  • Reporting: Gather, prepare, and present monthly management reports on underwriting, operating costs, underwriting exposures, and loss ratio.
  • Application Evaluation: Analyze, evaluate, and classify assigned applications working with inspection reports and financial statements to aid in determining risk acceptability.
  • Policy Approval: Approve policies within defined authority limits.
  • Interdepartmental Liaison: Liaise and interface with other verticals in the department to update on business.
  • Reinsurance and Claims: Liaise with reinsurance and claims for service delivery issues.
  • Customer Service: Provide an accurate, high-quality, and speedy underwriting service that builds customer relations and credibility.
  • Quote Provision: Provide quotes to brokers/third parties/customers based on risk price analyses with the consultation of Seniors.
  • Issue Escalation: Escalate customer issues and concerns where timely resolution is not being achieved in light of the laid-out policy and turnaround time.
  • Profit and Loss Responsibility: Responsible for P&L.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate degree preferably in Science, Insurance, Risk Management, Accountancy, or Law.
  • Experience: 5 years of Aviation underwriting experience.
  • Insurance Certification: Insurance certification from any accredited institute preferable.
  • Skills: Proven ability in Aviation underwriting, organizing workload under pressure; sound knowledge and understanding of the insurance market and regulatory environment; written and verbal communication skills in English; problem-solving and decision-making capabilities; influencing and interpersonal skills; negotiation skills; proficient with MS Office suite.
