Desirable Qualifications:

  • PhD in fields such as Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Large Language Models (LLM)
    • PhD focused on Natural Language Processing (NLP) or a Master’s degree with 5 years of industry experience in NLP research.
    • Multiple publications concerning the pre-training of large language models (e.g., technical reports on pre-trained LLMs, self-supervised learning techniques, model pre-training optimization).
    • Participation in a team that has developed a large language model from the ground up (10B+ parameters, 500B+ tokens).
    • Published works in deep learning theory.
    • Publications in prominent conferences such as ACL, NAACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS, ICML, or ICLR.
  • Optimization (Training & Inference)
    • PhD with a focus on optimizing the training of very large deep learning models.
    • Several years of experience and/or publications in areas such as Model Sparsification, Quantization, Training Parallelism/Partitioning Design, Gradient Checkpointing, or Model Compression.
    • Experience in optimizing training for models exceeding 10B parameters.
    • In-depth knowledge of deep learning algorithms and/or optimizer design.
    • Experience with compiler design.
  • Fine-tuning
    • PhD focused on guiding LLMs for additional tasks (Supervised Fine-tuning, Instruction-Tuning, Dialogue Fine-tuning, Parameter Tuning).
    • Demonstrated understanding of transfer learning principles, model adaptation, and model guidance.
    • Experience in deploying a fine-tuned large language model.

This salary information is intended solely for candidates hired to perform work within these locations and reflects the amount SimplyApply is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on the agreed-upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
