Research Laboratories Support Specialist
Job Purpose
The Research Laboratories Support Specialist is responsible for coordinating operational activities in research laboratories, providing support services to faculty, students, researchers, and technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate supply ordering, inventory management, storage, and maintenance of lab equipment and instruments.
- Plan and coordinate daily laboratory activities.
- Assist in developing quality standards and programs.
- Maintain laboratory operations compliance with accreditation standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
- Oversee test equipment and instrument maintenance for accuracy and efficiency.
- Manage record-keeping and communications for purchase requests and contract submissions.
- Maintain shared equipment records and schedules.
- Coordinate communication between the Director of Laboratories Office and internal/external research stakeholders.
- Support line managers in preparing presentations and reports on research support strategy, activities, and accomplishments.
- Communicate Research Lab capabilities through interaction with Communications and other media outlets.
- Train research support staff on administration and internal business procedures.
- Support University information security policies and report breaches or risks.
- Perform tasks assigned by the Line Manager.
