Job Description

Xeluxe Fire Safety Consultancy is seeking a highly skilled Process Safety Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting HAZOP studies, consequence modeling, and Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) using specialized software.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. HAZOP Studies:
    Lead and facilitate HAZOP studies to identify potential hazards and operability issues in process systems. Document findings and recommend corrective actions to mitigate identified risks.
  2. Consequence Modeling:
    Perform consequence modeling to evaluate the potential impacts of process safety incidents. Utilize specialized software to simulate scenarios such as fire explosion and toxic releases.
  3. Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA):
    Conduct QRAs to quantify the risks associated with process operations. Develop risk matrices and recommend measures to reduce risks to acceptable levels.
  4. Compliance with International Standards:
    Ensure that process safety practices comply with international standards and regulations (e.g. OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ISO). Stay updated with changes in safety regulations and incorporate them into company practices.
  5. Safety Code Requirements:
    Interpret and apply relevant safety codes and standards in the design and operation of process systems. Ensure that all safety-related documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  6. Documentation and Reporting:
    Prepare detailed reports and presentations on safety studies, assessments, and recommendations. Communicate findings and safety improvements to stakeholders including management and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field. Extensive experience in conducting HAZOP studies, consequence modeling, and QRA. Proficiency in using safety and risk assessment software such as PHAST, PHAPro, or similar tools. In-depth knowledge of international safety standards and codes (e.g. OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ISO). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional certification in process safety (e.g. CCPS, TUV Functional Safety Engineer).
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and their impact on process safety.
  • Experience in the chemical, oil and gas, or manufacturing industries.
