Job Summary

GHD is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in a project delivery role. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of electrical engineering projects, from design to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Project Coordination: Assist the Resident Engineer or MEP Lead in coordinating project activities, ensuring timely completion and adherence to contractual obligations.
  2. Technical Problem-Solving: Provide resolution for technical engineering problems within the assigned discipline(s), coordinating application of solutions to ensure progress on site.
  3. Technical Advice: Advise the project manager on technical aspects of electrical services that may affect construction progress, quality, and other related factors.
  4. Construction Schedule Review: Continually review the contractor's construction schedule during the progress of site works, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
  5. Submittal Review: Review construction submittals from project inception to close-out, ensuring compliance with design intent and project specifications.
  6. Method Statement Review: Review Contractor's installation method statements, ensuring alignment with project requirements and good working practices.
  7. Shop Drawing Review: Review Contractor's electrical shop drawings against the design (tender) drawings for compliance with the design intent and return to project manager with appropriate comments/approval.
  8. Engineering Coordination: Review Contractor's electrical shop drawing in conjunction with the structural and mechanical engineers to ensure engineering coordination and advise project manager accordingly.
  9. Material Proposal Review: Review Contractor's electrical services material proposals against specified technical performance requirements and advise the Project Manager on the appropriateness of the proposals.
  10. Subcontractor Review: Review Contractor's proposed subcontractors associated with the electrical engineering works from a technical standpoint.
  11. Material Procurement: Monitor material procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule within the assigned discipline.
  12. Project Site Observation: Undertake general project site observation/inspection of the electrical services works for Contractor's adherence to the approved shop drawings and Consultant's specifications, good working practices, the construction schedule, and health & safety.
  13. Off-Site Inspection: Be available to undertake off-site inspections of proposed equipment and materials as may be deemed necessary by the Project Manager.
  14. Testing and Commissioning: Undertake prior review of Contractor's proposed electrical system testing & commissioning methods and schedule.
  15. System Testing: Witness on-site piped system pressure test, air conditioning duct leakage testing, and other testing that may be required during the first fix works and advise the Project Manager accordingly.
  16. Final Testing: On a spot basis, witness electrical system final testing and commissioning.
  17. Testing Results: Review and comment on Contractor's testing and commissioning results and advise Project Manager accordingly.
  18. Defect Management: Prepare an ongoing list of electrical services defects for contractor's remedial action.
  19. Final Snagging: Undertake final project snagging and prepare a list of defects for Contractor's action.
  20. Meetings and Communication: Attend project, site progress, and any electrical services-related technical meetings as directed by the project manager.
  21. Instructions and Advice: Prepare draft site/engineer's instructions, relating to the building electrical services, as required and issue to the Project Manager.
  22. Variation Costs: Provide advice to the Project Manager regarding any electrical services-related variation costs that may be claimed by the Contractor during the course of the works.
  23. Operation and Maintenance: Review and comment upon Contractors Operation and Maintenance manuals.
  24. Team Leadership: Oversee junior engineers and inspectors for all electrical work and ensure that installation activities comply with contractual obligations and quality control standards.
  25. Utility Coordination: Follow up with the contractor and support in coordinating with the utility authority regarding connections whenever required.
