  • Maintain Attendance Records: Keep accurate attendance records for all laboratory testing personnel.
  • Coordinate Work Activities: Plan, organize, and coordinate the work activities of assigned laboratory testing personnel.

  • Develop and Maintain Procedural Manuals: Develop, implement, and maintain current procedural manuals for all laboratory tests performed.
  • Enforce Safety Policies: Enforce all safety policies and procedures in the laboratory.
  • Research and Implement New Procedures: Research, evaluate, and implement new and improved procedures, methodologies, instrumentation, and techniques as assigned by the Director/Manager or Supervisor.
  • Implement Quality Control Program: Implement an appropriate section and/or shift-specific Quality Control Program and maintain all applicable Quality Control and Functional Verification records.
  • Monitor Test Analyses: Monitor test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
  • Process Patient Specimens: Process patient specimens, including collection, handling, and distribution.
  • Perform Routine and Complicated Laboratory Procedures: Perform all routine and complicated laboratory procedures in the primary section to which assigned.
  • Provide Notification and Documentation: Provide notification and documentation of critical laboratory values obtained.
  • Calculate and Verify Results: Calculate, enter, and/or verify results of laboratory procedures.
  • Protect Confidentiality: Perform all duties in a manner that protects the confidentiality of patients and does not solicit or disclose any confidential information unless it is necessary for the performance of assigned job duties.
  • Stay Current with Medical Technology: Keep abreast of Medical Technology by reading Journals, texts, and technical bulletins; attending workshops and seminars; and becoming active in local professional associations.
  • Adhere to CORE Values: Demonstrate adherence to the CORE values of CHRISTUS Health.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from a regionally accredited college/university or education that has been evaluated by an acceptable credentialing agency and deemed equivalent to a US Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
  • Experience: Five (5) years of experience as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Technician required. Five (5) years of full-time primary experience in the specific section of responsibility required.
  • Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: Must provide proof of certification or certification eligibility for MT (ASCP), CLS (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), MT (AMT), CLS (NCA/ASCP), or MT (AAB). If certification with an expiration date is held, the certification must be kept current.
