Position Overview:

Company Overview:

The Upstream segment encompasses exploration, field development, and production of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. The Downstream segment focuses on refining, logistics, power generation, and marketing of crude oil, petroleum, and petrochemical products along with related services for both international and domestic clients. The Corporate segment provides supporting services such as human resources, finance, and information technology.

Job Summary:
We are looking for a Business Development Engineer with a robust background in chemicals to join the Refinery to Chemicals (RTC) Division within the Business & Project Development Department. The role involves establishing economic models, evaluating third-party Build Own Operate projects, and managing interfaces among various groups, including technical execution and commercial subject matter experts. The RTC Division is primarily accountable for project development under the Kingdom Liquids to Chemicals Program and is responsible for driving project assessments and fulfilling project requirements through different phases of the project life cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Align the details and foundational assumptions of the economic model.
  • Provide economic parameters, including Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR).
  • Ensure internal alignment among stakeholders regarding economic parameters.
  • Develop economics for Value Add and Capital Efficiency items, providing necessary details for commercial assessment.
  • Assess chemical competitiveness and offer insights on options to enhance overall economics.
  • Establish and evaluate various market scenarios to support and improve project value.
  • Define and contribute to Case Study deliverables and identify key optimization initiatives for the overall facilities scope, cost estimates, and schedule.
  • Monitor the development of Gate deliverables required for management approval and identify areas needing additional support to meet target dates.
  • Interface and collaborate with Government Engagement, GHG Abatement, and Finance Readiness workstreams, as well as the Project Development Group.
  • Work with the Government Engagement workstream to determine the economic impact on job creation and GDP, updating figures in each phase and securing stakeholder alignment.

Qualifications:

  • Relocation to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia is a requirement for this position.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited program.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in the Refining & Chemicals sector with a focus on integration.
  • Previous experience in Project Engineering, Design, and Execution.
  • Strong background in the Chemicals industry.
  • Solid technical expertise.
  • Knowledge and experience in Refinery-Chemicals integration.
  • Experience with steam crackers and associated derivatives, including process licensor selection and technology analysis.
  • Understanding of process yields and qualities.
  • Familiarity with economics and capital efficiency.
  • Experience in developing the scope basis for Chemicals facilities.
  • Experience in Chemicals capital project development, particularly in Pre-FEED/FEED stages.
  • Understanding of molecule optimization and synergy integration.
  • Proficient in execution and commercial aspects.
  • Knowledge of technical interface management.
  • Background in business development.
