The Rail Terminal Manager is responsible for setting up and managing the operational and commercial team, comprising permanent staff and subcontractors. This includes designing and implementing operations to meet challenging performance and safety targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of operational procedures and standards to deliver train terminal services.
- Achieve targeted levels of productivity (moves per hour, cost per move).
- Ensure the safety of all staff through appropriate risk assessment and safe working practices.
- Achieve target profitability for the rail terminal on a monthly/annual basis.
- Analyze data to identify opportunities to improve processes/systems/service levels, and lower cost per move.
- Design and introduce revisions to operational processes, gear, and equipment to improve overall productivity and profitability.
- Identify and implement system improvements to eliminate manual processes.
- Integrate the ToS system with ER and port terminal ToS systems to maximize efficiency of global pooling of equipment.
- Work closely with Rail and port stakeholders.
- Collaborate with AD Ports Commercial team in securing additional volumes and growing the business.
- Develop and maintain close relationships with Fujairah Terminal management team.
- Prepare and assist with annual budget preparation.
- Produce and analyze management reports on P&L and operational performance.
- Participate in management and strategy meetings as necessary.
- Prepare and assist with internal audits.
- Adopt a dynamic collaborative and mentoring management style.
- Promote definition and use of processes/procedures/planning to govern practice of port operations.
- Effective communication, both downwards and upwards.
- Ability to understand the customer and his commercial business model, to design operational services that add value for the customer.
- Direct management of Rail Terminal Operations.
- Broad experience across multiple sectors including Containers, GC, dry bulks, bulk liquids.
- Minimum 10-12 years of operational experience.
