About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Covanta as a skilled professional responsible for monitoring and maintaining the proper operation of the boiler ash removal system and air pollution control equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing, operating, maintaining, and cleaning all systems related to air pollution control equipment and fly ash conveyors.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Monitor and Maintain Equipment: Ensure the proper operation of ash conditioning, ash removal, and ferrous and non-ferrous metals recovery systems.
  • Perform Inspections and Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify and report equipment malfunctions, and perform or assist in preventive maintenance, including proper lock out tag out of these systems.
  • Clean Conveyors and Spillage: Clean conveyors and remove spillage to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Operate Heavy Equipment: Operate a front-end loader and forklift as required to support plant operations.
  • Perform General Housekeeping: Maintain work areas in a clean, orderly, and safe manner, and perform general housekeeping of the work area or other areas of the plant.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, the individual must have at least three years' previous experience with high pressure boilers and electric generating equipment or formal technical training. State license to operate boilers/pressure vessels and mobile equipment may be required. The successful candidate must also be able to work on a rotating shift schedule and work overtime.

Physical Requirements

The ideal candidate will be able to:

  • Walk, Stand, Sit, and Climb: Consistently work in various weather conditions.
  • Lift and Carry: Ability to lift and carry 50lbs.
  • Qualify for Respirator Use: Qualify to wear a full-face respirator.
  • Work at Heights and in Confined Spaces: Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces.
