We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Ophthalmology Specialist to join our team at NMC Royal Khalifa City. As a key member of our ophthalmology department, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive eye care services to children.
About the Role:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pediatric ophthalmology, with expertise in diagnosing and managing complex eye conditions in children. You will be responsible for performing advanced eye surgeries, developing treatment plans, and providing ongoing follow-up care for patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comprehensive Evaluation and Management: Conduct thorough evaluations, diagnoses, and management of pediatric ophthalmic conditions, including routine eye exams, diagnostic testing, and interpretation of results.
- Advanced Eye Surgeries: Perform strabismus surgery, cataract surgery, and surgical management of other congenital and acquired eye disorders.
- Treatment Plans: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for children with refractive errors, amblyopia, and other vision-related developmental conditions.
- Ongoing Follow-Up Care: Provide regular follow-up care for patients undergoing surgery or treatment for various eye conditions.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with pediatricians, optometrists, and other medical specialists to manage complex cases requiring a multidisciplinary approach.
- Patient Education: Educate and counsel patients and families on eye health, treatment options, and post-operative care instructions.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and stay abreast of the latest advancements in pediatric ophthalmology.
- Mentorship: Mentor junior ophthalmologists, medical students, and residents as required.
Qualifications:
- Medical Degree: A medical degree (MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- Residency and Fellowship: Three years residency in Ophthalmology culminating in procuring a Post-Graduate Masters degree and/or equivalent Fellowships approved by HAAD, with fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology or equivalent specialized experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Pediatric Ophthalmology since certification, with proven experience in performing pediatric eye surgeries and managing complex cases.
- Skills and Qualities: Strong knowledge of pediatric vision development, refractive management, and common pediatric ocular conditions, excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
