Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Treatment Planning: Conduct thorough assessments to understand the emotional impact of burn injuries on pediatric patients and develop individualized play therapy treatment plans to address trauma, anxiety, and emotional distress.
  • Play Therapy Sessions: Utilize creative and age-appropriate play materials to engage children in therapeutic activities, facilitating expression, emotional release, and coping strategies specific to burn recovery.
  • Clinical Collaboration: Work closely with the multidisciplinary medical team to integrate play therapy into the overall care plan, providing insights into the psychological well-being of pediatric patients and contributing to holistic treatment approaches.
  • Staff Support and Training: Provide advice, consultation, training, and support to other SSMC staff as appropriate, ensuring a cohesive and effective team approach to patient care.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and clinical records, adhering to SSMC policies and government regulations.
Requirements
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or a related field.
  • Experience in play therapy with pediatric populations, particularly those with burn injuries.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based interventions and treatment planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
