Storage Systems Engineer

Core42 is seeking a highly skilled Storage Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing large-scale software-defined storage solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Storage Solution Design: Design and implement scalable storage solutions using leading vendors such as HPE, Dell, NetApp, and others.
  • Storage System Management: Manage and optimize storage systems, including block, object, and file storage services, as well as backup capabilities.
  • Protocols and Interfaces: Understand and work with various storage protocols, including iSCSI, S3, NFS, FC, and NVMe over TCP.
  • Linux and Storage Stack: Proficient in Linux and the storage stack, with the ability to debug related issues.
  • Cloud Native Backup Solutions: Experience with cloud native backup solutions for OpenStack, such as Freezer, Karbor, and others.
  • Containerization and Storage: Familiarity with containerization technologies, including Openshift, Docker, and Kubernetes, as well as container storage technologies like Rook and CSI.
  • Data Protection and Security: Good knowledge of backup systems, disaster recovery principles, and data protection strategies, including data encryption and security practices.
  • Network Design and Monitoring: Understanding of datacenter network design and related technologies, as well as experience with monitoring and observability tools like Zabbix, Nagios, and Prometheus.
  • Programming and Scripting: Advanced level in programming and scripting using Python and/or Golang, bash.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, software engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with deep expertise in designing, implementing, and managing large-scale software-defined storage solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with object storage solutions based on SeaweedFS, MinIO, Cloudian HyperStore, Qumulo S3, Scality Ring, or Dell ECS.
  • Experience with integration of identity management, access management, and authorization solutions.
