Kitchen Steward Job Description

The Kitchen Steward will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans, as well as keeping food preparation and storage areas clean.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all dishes, glassware, flatware, and kitchen utensils are clean and sanitized using appropriate methods and equipment.
  • Sort, stack, and store clean dishes properly to ensure they are readily available for service.
  • Empty trash bins regularly and dispose of waste in designated areas to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Assist in storing and organizing kitchen equipment to ensure it is clean and ready for use.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and inform the supervisor when supplies need replenishing to prevent disruptions to operations.
  • Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene standards, including proper handwashing techniques and personal hygiene practices, to maintain a high level of quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations and efficient service delivery.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Proven experience as a kitchen steward, dishwasher, or similar role.
  • Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and work in hot and humid kitchen environments.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
