Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Underwriting and Scheme Risk Analyst to join our team at Checkout Group. As an Underwriting and Scheme Risk Analyst, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient analysis and underwriting of assigned cases within Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough business model analysis in line with existing guidance and perform basic financial analysis to identify potential risks.
  • Ask relevant questions to merchants and conduct underwriting of recommendations in line with existing frameworks and as per assigned approval authority.
  • Escalate cases outside of approval authority to senior team members.
  • Conduct reliable and detailed merchant research using various internal and external tools to identify potential scheme violations.
  • Propose appropriate actions to resolve issues and ensure compliance with payment scheme rules.
  • Assist in drafting internal guidance and propose solutions to improve internal policy and processes.
  • Work closely with multiple stakeholders, including Risk, Commercial, Legal, and Product teams, to review merchant setups and propose required actions.

Requirements

  • Ability to interpret and analyze financial statements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or Business Studies with a good grade.
  • Basic understanding of the payments industry and willingness to learn complex payment terminology.
  • 1-3 years of experience in the payments industry would be an advantage.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Passionate about the industry and committed to delivering high-quality results.
