Job Summary:

Stantec is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team as an Assistant Resident Engineer on a construction supervision project for TRANSCO involving water pipelines and water pumping stations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of engineers and contractors to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Implement methods for dispute avoidance and resolution, and conduct proactive site management.
  • Review contractor technical submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Respond to client and contractor queries, and provide technical inputs related to mechanical discipline.
  • Evaluate technical proposals and constructability, and solve technical site problems that may arise during construction.
  • Evaluate and monitor project progress against the submitted Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Cost Breakdown Structure, and Resources Breakdown Structure.
  • Oversee environmental protection aspects of construction and operation of similar size sewerage projects.
  • Ensure Quality Assurance Specifications and Statistical Quality Control.
  • Review and justify material submissions, analyze laboratory and technical reports, and conduct acceptance sampling plans, testing, and quality measures to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Prepare QC forms and checklists, and write clear and accurate technical reports.
  • Prepare construction project monthly valuation.
  • Review project progress against the baseline program, and provide updates to the project planner/quantity surveyor as required.
  • Participate in assessing and evaluating contractors' claims.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • 10 years of work experience, ideally with an engineering consultancy.
  • Experience working on water infrastructure projects, including water pumping systems, piping, and pipelines systems, tanks, HVAC, firefighting, and hypochlorination systems.

Working Conditions:

No remote work.
