Key Responsibilities

  • Research and Development: Conduct research at the forefront of machine learning, focusing on pre-training, training, and evaluation methods.
  • Novel Evaluation Methods: Develop and prototype novel evaluation methods to assess the performance of machine learning models.
  • Collaboration and Partnership: Work closely with downstream product and infrastructure teams to build and scale effective tools for responsible deployment.
  • Model Development: Architect and develop models that improve and have real-world impact.

Qualifications

  • Research Expertise: Possess a strong track record of coming up with new ideas or improving upon existing ideas in machine learning, demonstrated by accomplishments such as first-author publications or projects.
  • Leadership and Autonomy: Be able to own and pursue a research agenda, including choosing impactful research problems and autonomously carrying out long-running projects.
  • Technical Expertise: Have experience developing novel techniques for ML model measurement and mitigation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Be comfortable working cross-functionally across both research and product teams.
