Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the work of medical records clerks and ensure that all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Review and process medical records, ensuring that all information is complete and accurate.
  • Maintain birth and death registers and notify concerned authorities as necessary.
  • Keep medicolegal records under safe custody and ensure that all confidential information is protected.
  • Provide medical records services by maintaining an effective filing and retrieving system, including locating missing patient records.
  • Cooperate with other departments to ensure the proper maintenance of patient records.
  • Update computer data bases through the daily list of patients records for transcription of medical reports.
  • Check all unreturned patient records through the computer printout and update the whereabouts of the patient records on a weekly basis.
  • Protect patient records to maintain confidentiality.
  • Check all patient records in the filing rack to ensure they are properly filed.
  • Maintain departmental KPIs and have a monthly meeting with the Medical Records Manager to discuss daily performances.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree in any discipline or equivalent is required. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
