Job Description

Job Title: Music Teacher - Secondary School

Job Summary:

Safa Community School is seeking a dynamic and passionate Music Teacher to join our highly accomplished secondary department. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Music across the age and ability range, including GCSE and A-Level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Music to students in the secondary school, including planning and preparing courses and lessons, setting and marking work, and assessing student progress.
  • Use data to inform classroom teaching and monitor student progress, implementing timely interventions as needed.
  • Prepare students for public examinations, assess students for examination purposes, and record and report on student assessments.
  • Communicate with parents, including writing reports, and attend Parents' Evenings and Open Evenings.
  • Maintain good order and discipline in the classroom and participate in departmental meetings and Open Evenings.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental policy and practice, introducing curricular initiatives and preparing programs of study and methods of teaching and assessment.
  • Participate in administrative and organizational tasks to ensure the smooth running of the department.
  • Keep up to date with curriculum innovation, participate in professional development opportunities, and contribute to own professional growth.
  • Work collaboratively with support teachers in the classroom and take responsibility for monitoring and supporting a beginning teacher, if applicable.
  • Set work for classes in advance and for absent colleagues, as required.
  • Take responsibility for a designated area of the curriculum, administration, or curriculum innovation or project.
  • Carry out other tasks as reasonably directed by the Head of Department.
  • Familiarize yourself with the DSIB inspection framework and the expectations of outstanding teaching and learning in the UAE.
  • Be supportive of UAE initiatives and cultural expectations.

Requirements:

  • Hold relevant qualifications.
  • Have experience teaching Music in British Curriculum schools, especially at GCSE and A-Level.
  • Be enthusiastic about Music and able to convey this to students.
  • Have an understanding of assessment and examination requirements for KS3, KS4, and KS5.
  • Be an outstanding teacher with the ability to demonstrate outstanding practice and progress of students.
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Actively keep up to date with developments in Music.
  • Have a willingness to develop as a professional, taking opportunities to train further within the department or outside to progress in their career.
