Job Description

Careers International is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Plumbing Engineer to lead our plumbing systems design and development team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of plumbing systems for various construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Engineering:
    • Lead the design and engineering of complex plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, waste, and vent systems.
    • Develop detailed plumbing plans, specifications, and schedules using industry-standard software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit).
    • Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal codes and regulations, as well as industry standards (e.g. ASME, ASTM).
    • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (e.g. HVAC, electrical) to integrate plumbing systems seamlessly within the overall project design.
  • Project Management:
    • Manage multiple plumbing projects from conception through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
    • Prepare and review project proposals, cost estimates, and resource allocation plans.
    • Oversee the preparation of technical documentation, including calculations, drawings, and reports.
  • Site Supervision:
    • Provide on-site supervision and inspection during the installation of plumbing systems to ensure compliance with design specifications.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the construction phase.
    • Conduct final inspections and testing of plumbing systems to ensure functionality and safety.
  • Client and Stakeholder Interaction:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding plumbing-related aspects of the project.
    • Attend project meetings, providing technical insights and updates to ensure client satisfaction.
    • Prepare and deliver presentations on project progress, challenges, and solutions.
  • Mentorship and Leadership:
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and drafters, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
    • Lead by example in adhering to best practices, safety standards, and ethical conduct in all engineering activities.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in plumbing engineering.
    • Identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency improvements within the engineering department.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in plumbing engineering, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
    • Proven experience in managing large-scale commercial, residential, or industrial projects.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in plumbing design software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit).
    • Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, standards, and regulations.
    • Experience with hydronic systems, fire protection systems, and sustainable plumbing design (LEED certification is a plus).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
