Key Responsibilities:
- Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Utilize your analytical skills to ensure the effective functioning of unit routines, identifying and resolving issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Medical Surgical Nursing Expertise: Demonstrate current knowledge of medical surgical nursing principles, recognizing and applying basic pathophysiology in disease processes to provide optimal patient care.
- Technical Nursing Skills: Administer medications safely and according to policies and procedures, assist physicians with patient examinations and specialized procedures, and demonstrate proficiency in IV therapy and dressing.
- Emergency Situations: Recognize potential emergency situations, manage codes and other emergency situations competently, and actively participate in mock codes to ensure preparedness.
- Care Planning: Develop individualized care plans based on nursing diagnoses, incorporating updated revisions according to evaluation and re-assessment findings, and considering activities of daily living such as hygiene needs.
- Patient Care Prioritization: Set priorities and plan the implementation of patient care, ensuring timely and organized completion of care in accordance with AHD nursing standards and policy.
- Discharge Planning: Address discharge planning on admission, ongoing, and as care plans are modified, ensuring timely and complete completion of discharge and transfer procedures.
- Communication: Provide accurate, complete, and prompt reports on patient care conditions and response to treatment using the standardized SBAR, and collaborate effectively as a multidisciplinary team member.
