About the Organization
This organization is involved in the exploration, production, transportation, and marketing of crude oil and natural gas. It operates through various segments, including Upstream, Downstream, and Corporate. The Upstream segment encompasses the exploration and production of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. The Downstream segment focuses on refining, logistics, power generation, and the marketing of petroleum and petrochemical products, catering to both international and domestic markets. The Corporate segment provides essential support services, including human resources, finance, and information technology.
Job Summary
We are looking for an Environmental Management Specialist to join the Upstream Operational Excellence and Compliance team. This role is situated within the Environmental Group, which is dedicated to addressing environmental and sustainability issues. The primary function of this group is to oversee and report on environmental requirements and initiatives, ensuring compliance and driving performance through diligent monitoring, process optimization, and providing guidance to operational departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a liaison between internal business units and support organizations regarding all environmental concerns.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on environmental performance across various metrics, including emissions, water conservation, and energy management.
- Evaluate and identify gaps in environmental management systems and performance tracking, proposing necessary mitigation and optimization strategies.
- Maintain an updated inventory of compliance gaps across internal organizations.
- Identify significant nonconformities and recommend corrective actions.
- Facilitate workshops and awareness sessions on new environmental requirements and updates.
- Review and provide feedback on new or revised environmental guidelines and standards.
- Support internal environmental coordinators with guidance and resources.
- Develop strategies and programs to enhance compliance, improve performance, and optimize operational processes using existing resources and innovative technologies.
Qualifications:
- This position requires the candidate to relocate permanently to a key operational hub.
- A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Chemical Engineering is required.
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in Environmental Management is essential.
- Experience in the oil and gas sector is preferred.
- Recommended skills include:
- Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting
- Sustainability and ESG reporting
- EMS Lead Auditor certification
