Job Overview

Core Responsibilities:
  • Record Maintenance: Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial records, encompassing accounts payable and receivable, general ledger entries, and expense documentation.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Conduct routine reconciliations of bank statements to verify that all transactions are correctly documented and balanced, including regular reconciliations for insurance company accounts.
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Assist in drafting financial statements, management reports, and various financial analyses to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the budgeting and forecasting efforts by providing relevant financial data and insights to assist in strategic planning and financial goal setting.
  • Vendor Payments: Manage payment processes for vendors and monitor outstanding invoices. Ensure timely collection of premiums from clients through effective accounts receivable management.
  • Tax Compliance: Guarantee adherence to local tax laws, including VAT reporting and submission.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and uphold robust internal controls to protect company assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Audit Collaboration: Work alongside external auditors during the annual audit to supply necessary documentation and clarifications.
  • Financial Analysis: Examine financial data, identify trends, and offer recommendations for enhancing financial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Insurance Tracking: Collaborate with underwriting teams to accurately monitor insurance policies, premiums, and commissions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Remain informed about relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards applicable to insurance brokerage firms.
  • Software Proficiency: Leverage accounting software and other financial tools to optimize processes and improve accuracy.
  • Additional Tasks: Assist with other financial and administrative responsibilities as directed by management.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as ACCA, CMA, or CPA are advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience as an accountant, ideally within the insurance sector or brokerage firms.
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and tax regulations.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
