Job Summary:

Parsons Oman is seeking a highly skilled Irrigation Design Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for performing basic to moderately difficult design and drafting assignments requiring a working knowledge of design and drafting standards, practices, and techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize CAD software to prepare engineering drawings consisting of standard arrangements, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, isometrics, etc., from rough sketches and/or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other designers and engineers to ensure a coordinated design.
  • Apply standard design principles and theories to complete assignments.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable standards and codes such as ANSI, PFI, and ASME.
  • Compile data and perform dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
  • Read and understand orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) designs and supplier/manufacturer drawings.
  • Makes required changes, additions, and/or revisions, as directed by immediate supervisor.
  • May assist in training lower-level designers in various procedures.
  • Checks drawings prepared by lower-level designers for accuracy and adequacy.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Associate's or equivalent technical degree or certificate of completion from an accredited designer/drafter course (or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in drafting is a must.
  • Requirements include PC literacy, a working knowledge of CAD, MicroStation Connect Edition, and a working knowledge of other computer software used to complete design assignments.
  • Able to produce automatic irrigation layouts and details as per authority standards and requirements is an additional advantage.
  • Ability to read and translate blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Basic understanding of infrastructure design and utility processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are a must.
