About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Superintendent to join our team at NMDC Group. As a key member of our construction management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the execution of construction projects from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and Maintain a Safety Culture: Foster a culture of safety on the project site, ensuring that all employees and contractors adhere to established safety policies and procedures.
  2. Project Management and Coordination: Perform on-site management, supervision, and coordination of all self-performed and contracted work, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  3. Quality Assurance and Control: Ensure that all construction activities are carried out in accordance with project drawings, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, procedures, quality requirements, and safety standards.
  4. Schedule and Cost Control: Control project schedules and costs through the efficient use of all construction resources and contractors, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  5. Team Management and Development: Oversee the development of project schedules in cooperation with construction engineers and contractors, and ensure that daily and weekly short-range planning is maintained down to the supervisor/foreman level.
  6. Design and Constructability Review: Review design scope and approach with regard to constructability and submit recommendations for change.
  7. Operational Standards and Problem-Solving: Meet operational standards, implementing production, productivity, quality, and standards, and resolving problems as they arise.
  8. Sub-Contractor Management: Manage sub-contractors by monitoring and controlling their performance, ensuring that they meet the required standards.
  9. Delays and Fines Prevention: Prevent delays and fines by complying with and enforcing codes, regulations, and project requirements.
  10. Knowledge and Skills Development: Update working knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging construction practices, and enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.
  11. Project Team Operations: Implement policies and procedures for effective and efficient functioning of the project survey team on site, and be responsible for the running of the project team operations (mobilization, execution, deliverables, and project close-out).
  12. Quality Assurance of Construction: Be responsible for the quality assurance of construction, including field checks, and determine manpower levels to attain schedule milestones and monitor manpower levels and craft mixes to ensure conformance with the construction plan.
  13. Productivity and Cost-Effectiveness: Monitor productivity, cost, and implement appropriate action to maintain and maximize labor productivity and cost-effectiveness.
  14. Change and Scope Control: Control change/scope, ensuring that all scope changes are quickly and properly documented, and that change orders are approved prior to the performance of work.
  15. Contractual Commitments: Manage the contractual commitments of contractors, including cost, quality, and schedule, and coordinate their field activities.
  16. Temporary Facilities Planning: Plan and manage the project's temporary facilities.
  17. Quality of Work: Maintain the quality of all work in accordance with the standards as specified in the design documents.
  18. Equipment Use and Maintenance: Ensure effective construction equipment use and maintenance program.
  19. Personnel Administration: Administer, train, and motivate all personnel in construction operations.
  20. Client Relations: Manage and maintain all client relations at the site.
  21. Safety and Health: Remain knowledgeable of safety policies and procedures and perform assigned duties in a safe manner, and while supervising others, have responsibility for their safety and ensure that they comply with established safety policies and procedures and practice safe work habits.
  22. HSE Requirements: Ensure that the HSE requirements are observed in the execution of all construction activities.
  23. Job Scope and Expectations: This is a generalist view of a job that you have been assigned for – at times you will be asked to do above/beyond the scope of this role due to operational requirements.
Requirements
  1. Education and Certifications: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional qualification, and additional certifications and affiliations in Construction would be beneficial.
  2. Function-Specific Experience: Organizational skills to build successful teams for completion of project tasks, understanding building codes, safety guidelines, and regulations addressing Civil Marine Construction projects, supervising project crews, addressing safety and other worksite concerns and issues with laborers and foremen, and understanding how construction equipment works for inspection, operation, and maintenance of this equipment.
  3. Industry-Related Experience: Dredging and Marine construction.
  4. IT Skills: MS Office.
  5. Years of Experience: 10-12 years of specific experience in managing a team.
