Job Summary:

Stantec is seeking a highly skilled Resident Engineer to lead a team of engineers and contractors on a construction supervision project for TRANSCO. The successful candidate will have a strong mechanical background and experience working on water infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of engineers and contractors to ensure successful project delivery
  • Implement methods for dispute avoidance and resolution, and proactively manage multiple sites
  • Review contractor technical submittals and ensure compliance with project specifications
  • Respond to client and contractor queries, and provide technical inputs related to mechanical discipline
  • Effectively evaluate technical proposals and constructability, and solve technical site problems
  • Evaluate and monitor project progress, and ensure compliance with project specifications
  • Oversee environmental protection aspects of construction and operation
  • Ensure Quality Assurance and Statistical Quality Control
  • Review and justify material submissions, and analyze laboratory and technical reports
  • Prepare QC forms and checklists, and write clear and accurate technical reports
  • Prepare construction project monthly valuations, and review project progress against baseline programs
  • Participate in assessing and evaluating contractors' claims

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university
  • 15 years of work experience, ideally with an engineering consultancy
  • Experience working on water infrastructure projects, including water pumping systems, piping, and pipelines
  • Developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with multicultural teams
  • Ability to work effectively and diligently as an individual and team member to resolve complex faults on critical equipment
  • Ability to prepare and present technical and non-technical documentation
  • Proven ability to perform in a key technical leadership role, with good written and oral communication skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations
  • Previous experience with consultancy firms holding the same Resident Engineer role
