Parker Drilling Company is seeking a highly skilled BOP Technician to join our team. As a BOP Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of Blowout Preventer (BOP) systems and other pressure control equipment used in drilling operations.
Key Responsibilities- Installation and Commissioning
Install and commission new BOP systems and associated pressure control equipment at drilling sites, ensuring all installations are performed according to company standards and safety regulations.
Maintenance and RepairPerform routine maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on BOP systems and pressure control equipment, troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, and implement effective solutions.
Inspection and TestingConduct regular inspections and testing of BOP systems to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards, document and report findings from inspections and testing.
Safety and ComplianceAdhere to all safety protocols and procedures while working with pressure control equipment, ensure all maintenance and repair work complies with company policies and industry regulations.
Technical SupportProvide technical support and guidance to field personnel and other team members on BOP systems, assist in the training of junior technicians and operators on BOP maintenance and operations.
Documentation and ReportingMaintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and equipment performance, prepare and submit reports on equipment status and any issues encountered.
Emergency ResponseRespond to emergency situations involving BOP systems and pressure control equipment, implement corrective actions to address and mitigate any equipment failures or incidents.
Requirements- Education
High School Diploma or equivalent, technical or vocational training in mechanical or hydraulic systems is preferred.
ExperienceMinimum of 3-5 years of experience working with BOP systems or pressure control equipment in the oil and gas industry.
Skills- In-depth knowledge of BOP systems, pressure control equipment, and well control procedures.
- Strong mechanical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Familiarity with safety standards and procedures in the oil and gas industry.
- Pressure Control Certification: Relevant certifications in pressure control equipment or BOP systems.
- Welding Certification: If required for specific tasks or repairs.
- First Aid/CPR Certification: Demonstrates preparedness for emergency situations.
- Ability to walk on uneven ground (gravel, rocks, mounds, ice).
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and/or ramps while carrying tools requiring a reasonable degree of physical stamina and agility and involving moderate to severe physical exertion.
- Ability to comprehend, remember, and follow verbal and written directions and comply with Company policies, procedures and standards.
