This role involves diagnosing mechanical issues, performing preventive maintenance, and repairing various bus systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Maintenance and Repair**:

- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on heavy buses, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Conduct thorough inspections of buses to identify and fix defects and potential problems.
- Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems, such as engines, transmissions, braking systems, and fuel systems.
- **Diagnostics**:

- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify vehicle issues.
- Interpret diagnostic codes and troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Ensure accurate and thorough documentation of diagnostic procedures and repairs.
- **Record Keeping**:

- Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, parts used, and time spent on each task.
- Ensure all maintenance logs are up-to-date and comply with safety and regulatory standards.
- **Safety Compliance**:

- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while performing maintenance and repair tasks.
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure all buses meet safety standards before returning to service.
- Report any safety hazards or compliance issues to the supervisor promptly.
- **Collaboration**:

- Work closely with other mechanics, drivers, and maintenance staff to ensure efficient workflow and communication.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior mechanics or apprentices.
- Coordinate with the maintenance supervisor or manager to prioritize tasks and manage workload effectively.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in automotive or diesel mechanics preferred.
- **Experience**: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a mechanic, with specific experience in heavy bus or heavy-duty vehicle maintenance and repair.
- **Certifications**: ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification in Medium/Heavy Truck preferred; CDL (Commercial Driver's License) may be required.
