Tile masons typically work in the construction industry, either for a tile installation company or as a self-employed contractor.

The job duties of a tile mason include:
Measuring and cutting tiles to fit around obstacles, such as pipes and electrical outlets.

Preparing surfaces for tile installation, including cleaning and leveling the area.

Installing tiles in a specific pattern or design.

Sealing and grouting tile joints to prevent water damage and maintain the appearance of the installation.

Using power tools and other equipment to cut and shape tiles.

To become a tile mason, you typically need to have a high school diploma or equivalent and complete a tile mason apprenticeship program or a vocational training program. Some states require tile masons to be licensed, which may involve passing an exam and meeting certain education and experience requirements.

Tile masons should have good hand-eye coordination, be detail-oriented, and have good physical stamina to handle the demands of the job. They should also have good communication skills to work effectively with clients, other tradespeople, and supervisors.
