**Job Title**: Bartender

**Job Summary**:
The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring a lively and welcoming atmosphere at the bar. This role involves mixing drinks, managing inventory, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar area. The Bartender must be knowledgeable about various drinks, able to engage with customers, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Drink Preparation**:
1. Mix, garnish, and serve a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks according to recipes or customer specifications.

2. Operate bar equipment, including blenders, shakers, and mixers, to prepare cocktails, mocktails, and other beverages.

3. Create signature drinks and suggest new beverage offerings to enhance the bar menu.

**Customer Service**:
1. Greet customers warmly as they approach the bar, making them feel welcome and comfortable.

2. Take orders and serve drinks promptly, ensuring accuracy and quality.

3. Engage with customers, making recommendations based on their preferences and providing information about the drinks menu.

**Inventory Management**:
1. Monitor inventory levels of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, and other bar supplies, ensuring that the bar is stocked and organized.

2. Assist in ordering and receiving inventory, checking for quality and correct quantities.

3. Track usage and waste, keeping accurate records for inventory control and cost management.

**Cash Handling**:
1. Process customer transactions accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system, handling cash, credit cards, and mobile payments.

2. Maintain a balanced cash drawer, ensuring that all sales are recorded correctly and discrepancies are avoided.

3. Assist with opening and closing the cash register, following proper cash handling procedures.

**Bar Maintenance and Cleanliness**:
1. Keep the bar area clean, organized, and well-stocked with supplies, including glassware, garnishes, and napkins.

2. Wash and sanitize glasses, bar tools, and equipment regularly, following proper sanitation procedures.

3. Dispose of trash, recyclables, and empty bottles, ensuring that the bar remains tidy and presentable.

**Compliance with Laws and Regulations**:
1. Check customer identification to ensure they meet the legal drinking age before serving alcoholic beverages.

2. Adhere to all local and state regulations regarding the sale and service of alcohol, including responsible service practices.

3. Manage and report any customer behavior that may pose a risk to safety, such as excessive intoxication.

**Team Collaboration**:
1. Work closely with bar staff, servers, and kitchen staff to coordinate service and ensure a seamless customer experience.

2. Assist in training new bartenders or barbacks, sharing knowledge of drink preparation and service techniques.

3. Communicate effectively with the team to manage orders during busy periods and maintain high service standards.

**Entertainment and Atmosphere**:
1. Contribute to the overall ambiance of the bar by interacting with customers, playing music, and setting a lively mood.

2. Host events or promotions, such as happy hours or themed nights, to attract and entertain customers.

3. Engage with customers in conversation, creating a fun and friendly environment.

**Problem-Solving**:
1. Address customer complaints or concerns professionally, seeking to resolve issues quickly and to the customer's satisfaction.

2. Handle difficult situations, such as refusing service to intoxicated customers, with tact and authority.

3. Work with management to improve bar operations and address any challenges that arise.

**Qualifications**:
1. Proven experience as a Bartender or in a similar role in a restaurant, bar, or nightclub.

2. Extensive knowledge of drink recipes, mixology, and the ability to create custom cocktails.

3. Strong customer service skills with a friendly and outgoing personality.

4. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple orders simultaneously.

5. Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

6. Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and managing inventory.

7. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

8. Knowledge of local alcohol laws and responsible service practices.

9. Certification in bartending or mixology is a plus.
