**Job Description: Financial Controller**

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join our accounting team in a large UK mental healthcare group. As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounts receivable and payable functions, ensuring timely invoicing, effective payment follow-ups, and prompt vendor payments. Your role will be vital in maintaining a healthy cash flow and ensuring uninterrupted services to our patients.

**Responsibilities**:
**Manage Accounts Receivable and Payable**: Oversee the invoicing process, ensuring accurate and timely issuance of invoices. Develop and implement effective strategies for payment recovery, including regular follow-ups, dispute resolution, and escalation procedures. Monitor and manage the aging of accounts receivable, minimizing outstanding balances and reducing bad debts. Coordinate with the team of junior accountants to streamline accounts payable processes, ensuring timely payments to vendors.

**Cash Flow Management**: Monitor and analyze cash flow to identify potential issues or opportunities. Prepare cash flow forecasts, assess liquidity needs, and make recommendations for optimizing working capital. Implement strategies to maintain a healthy cash flow and mitigate financial risks.

**Financial Reporting and Analysis**: Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy, compliance with accounting standards, and adherence to internal controls. Perform financial analysis, identifying trends, patterns, and areas of improvement. Provide meaningful insights and recommendations to senior management based on financial data.

**Budgeting and Forecasting**: Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor budget variances, investigate discrepancies, and provide explanations. Advise on cost-saving opportunities and assist in financial decision-making processes.

**Internal Controls and Compliance**:Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and accounting standards. Conduct periodic audits to identify control weaknesses and implement remedial actions. Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting regulations and communicate their impact to the team.

**Team Leadership and Development**:Lead and motivate a team of junior accountants, providing guidance, training, and mentorship. Set performance objectives, conduct performance evaluations, and identify opportunities for professional development. Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.

**Requirements**:
**Education and Experience**:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) designation is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar role, preferably in the healthcare industry.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting processes.
- Familiarity with healthcare billing and reimbursement processes is a plus.

**Financial Acumen**: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights. Experience in financial analysis, cash flow management, and budgeting.

**Leadership and Communication**:Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization. Proven experience in leading and developing a team.

**Detail-Oriented**: Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in financial statements, reports, and analyses. Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

**Integrity and Compliance**: Demonstrated commitment to ethical behavior, integrity, and adherence to accounting principles. Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and ability to ensure compliance.

**Technology Skills**: Proficiency in using accounting software, financial management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel). Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is preferred.
