Cats & Pets Caregiver

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Prior experience in animal care (volunteer work in animal shelters or as a pet sitter counts).
- Basic knowledge of animal health and behavior.

**Preferred**
- Associate degree in animal science, veterinary technology, or related field.
- Certification in pet first aid

**Responsibilities**
- Ensuring the cats are fed a proper, balanced diet according to their age, health, and dietary needs.
- Providing fresh water daily and monitoring food intake.
- Cleaning cages, cat beds, and common areas to provide a safe, clean, and comfortable environment.
- Observing the cats for signs of illness or injury, including changes in behavior, appetite, or physical appearance.
- Coordinating with veterinarians for vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and general health checkups.
- Providing regular interaction with the cats to help with their socialization, particularly if they are shy or scared.
- Observing and documenting each cat’s behavior, temperament, and any changes that could indicate stress or health issues.
- Helping with training, if necessary, to encourage appropriate behavior
- Maintaining records of vaccinations, spaying/neutering status, and other treatments.
- Ensuring the safety of the cats in the shelter by checking that all areas are secure and that the cats cannot escape or be harmed.
- Managing any situations where cats might be aggressive toward each other or toward people.
- Communicating with the public about the cats and answering questions about their needs or behavior.
