**POSITION TITLE: LIFEGUARD**

**Summary Description**:
As a Lifeguard you are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the swimming pools, he/she is assigned to within the Health Club Department. This includes the safety, cleanliness and maintenance of the Pools. Your role needs you to adhere to policies and procedures ensuring the smooth functioning of the SPA Department and will include key responsibilities such as:
**A)** **Responsibilities and Duties**:

- Makes sure the sun loungers are clean, in the correct position and in working order.
- To constantly monitor swimming pool activity.
- To assist anybody who is in difficulty in and around the pool area.
- To regularly check the temperature of the pool to ensure they are at set standard.
- Ensures the pool deck is always clean of any debris during the operation.
- When setting up in the morning - to make sure that the pool deck is swept and watered down, and that all furniture is in correct place.
- To assist in First Aid.
- To clear all dirty towels and hand them to reception for laundry.
- Any lost and found item to make sure it is noted in the logbook and handed over to Housekeeping Lost and Found Department.
- To report any guest’s feedback, comments or complaints to your Department Head immediately
- To give help to your Associates and Supervisor when needed.
- Ensure Guests are aware of all services and activities available at the pool.
- Ensure that proper pool testing has taken place prior to Guests using the facility.
- Ensure all Guests are registered prior to using the pool and are aware of the rules and regulations of the facility.
- Makes sure the swimming pool is clean and constantly monitors swimming pool activity.
- To have required knowledge of SPA / Health club facilities along with their prices and also knows about membership procedures.
- Explain to the guests about the services and activities available at the pool.
- Use appropriate rescue techniques if observing swimmers in need of assistance.
- Observe the swimming area for dangerous conditions, unusual or unsafe activities, and swimmers who are struggling.
- Caution swimmers regarding unsafe areas.
- Restrict guest from using any kind of glassware near the pool area.
- Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning and administer first aid.
- Provide swimming lessons and training when requested by the guest.
- Be aware of possible situations where guests are not able to safely participate in an activity and inform supervisor/manager.
- To regularly check the temperature of the pool to ensure they are at set standard.
- Assist in the cleanliness and the daily upkeep of the pool area.
- Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service.
- Provide a high level of Guest satisfaction and safety through effective communication.
- Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the manager, attend and complete safety training and certifications as required by the management.
- Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Follow company policies and procedures at all times and proper grooming and personal appearance to be maintained.

**Additional duties and responsibilities**:

- Ensure integrity and confidentiality of information at all times.
- To perform any additional requirement, tasks and duties outside of his/her scope of work as deemed necessary by your Immediate Manager or the Management.

**Care of Equipment**
- Ensures maintenance and careful handling of equipment used.
- Ensures timely reporting of malfunction or maintenance deficiency to appropriate area.

**Training and Employee’s Activities**
- Attends scheduled trainings.
- Participates actively in company-initiated employee activities.

**Grooming and Hygiene**
- Adheres to the specified hygiene and personal appearance standards of the hotel and surrounding area.
