. Job Function:
The mission of Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) is to build capabilities to meet the UAE’s foreign policy objectives by providing accredited academic programmes and best-in-class training. In addition, the Academy aims to advance the understanding of diplomacy and international relations through insightful thought leadership and impactful research and analysis.

AGDA currently delivers a Post-Graduate Diploma in UAE Diplomacy and International Relations, as well as a Master of Arts in Global Affairs and Diplomatic Leadership. The Academy also launched its Master of Arts in Humanitarian Action and Development programme, in July 2021.

The Academy is seeking to recruit faculty at the Assistant and Associate Professor level, who will:

- Deliver various courses in the Post-Graduate Diploma and MA programmes.
- Assist the Dean in drawing on extensive academic excellence to underpin and carry out research, teaching, leadership and management within AGDA.
- Produce research, which engages the UAE and international academic communities.
- Help establish the AGDA’s reputation, by delivering papers at international conferences and publishing at key international venues.
- Support the development of scholarship, which has international impact.
- Assist in the establishment and implementation of pedagogic developments relating to learning and teaching to a level recognised externally for excellence.
- Contribute to the promotion of theoretically informed and innovative approaches to learning and teaching.
- Provide leadership by serving on critical committees at AGDA.
2. Key Responsibilities/Duties:
Teaching and research:

- Deliver up to 12 credit hours of academic courses and supervise capstone projects.
- Supervise MA theses.
- Support the MA programme by serving as thesis readers.
- Advise PGD and MA students.
- Serve on the Academic Affairs Committee and other committees as needed.
- Support AGDA co-curricular activities.
- Contribute to the process of evaluating applicants and admitting students to the PGD and MA programmes.
- Help evaluate MA Qualifying Exam and Comprehensive Exam results.
- Teach assigned and elective classes, in accordance with programme learning outcomes.
- Help to supervise student progress.
- Advise and mentor students on their academic progress.
- Participate in the academic department’s curriculum committee.
- Contribute to the ongoing academic life of the institution by providing significant service to the AGDA.
- Comply with all policies and procedures, relating to teaching and learning, making every effort to contribute to the continuous improvement and effectiveness of administration of teaching and learning.
- Continuously improve their own teaching and learning and contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of learning and teaching across the Academy.
- Participate in scholarly activities that influence and enhance learning and teaching in the Academy.
- Assist in the review and assessment of courses and programmes, as required.
- Support the Dean in matters related to hiring new faculty members, assessment of existing courses and programmes, student activities, academic advising and mentorship.
People Management:

- Administer evaluations of student performance, based on course content
- Maintain records of student attendance, student progress, and grade distributions.
- Ensure that students are adequately informed of the requirements and conduct of learning activities.
- Encourage regular and effective consultation with students.
- Maintain complete and detailed course files.
- Work both individually and collaboratively, as a member of the academic faculty.
3. Job Specifications:
Education
- PhD degree from a reputable and internationally accredited university, relevant to AGDA’s academic programmes, in the field of economy and economic diplomacy, including international trade, investment and finance.
- Academic background in a field associated with economy.
- Knowledge of the UAE’s economic policy is an advantage.
Relevant Experience:

- A minimum experience of 3 - 7 years in an academic environment
- Strong record of published scholarship, as well as a record of teaching in higher education.

**Skills**:

- Excellent interpersonal skills, encompassing the ability to work collegially as a member of a team and the ability to engage effectively with students and external stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is required and fluency in Arabic is a significant advantage.
